The school has cameras used during the classes but we recommend students have a Digital SLR Camera (DSLR) or a Pro-Compact camera with a fully manual exposure mode meaning you are able to control ISO, Shutter Speeds and Apertures manually.

Yes, Ideally you would learn with your own camera, but we have DSLR cameras which you can use at no extra cost during classes. We recommend that you buy your own camera which will also help you practice what you have learnt.

The choice of camera depends with your budget and the kind of photography you want to focus on, for entry and professional level we recommend the following camera kits:

  • CANON 1300D, 750D, 60D, 70D, 5D mark III body + 18-55mm Canon lens or Standard 50mm lens.
  • NIKON D3300, D5300, D7200, D750, D850 body + 18-55mm Nikon lens or Standard 50mm Nikon lens.
  • Lighting – Flash, Trigger and Receiver

The cameras and lenses above meet all the requirements for great pictures, they are light and we chose an “all in one” zoom lens that is great for General Photography.
